About the Clarifruit Platform

The Clarifruit platform is the world’s first cloud-based platform that automatically collects your fresh produce QC data and analyzes it, delivering objective and consistent QC inspections, real-time visibility, and an improved QC management experience. Learn more about our platform here.

Clarifruit is a single automated platform that can be used by all stakeholders - from growers to marketing companies, wholesalers, and retailers - to manage and optimize fresh produce QC.

Yes. The Clarifruit fresh produce QC solution can be used across the supply chain and can be configured to meet the unique requirements of multiple use cases:

  • Pre-harvest
  • Intake
  • Control
  • Final product
  • Port
  • Inbound distribution centers
  • Coolers
  • Outbound distribution centers
  • Front stores

The Clarifruit platform has three main components — the front-end mobile app, the webapp management dashboard, and the Big Data and analytics platform. Learn more about each of these components here.

Our digital QC platform can support any fresh produce category that exists in the market today. In addition, our full Level 2 automation computer vision technology currently supports the inspection of 17 produce categories:  tomatoes, grapes, peaches (stone fruits), cherries, bananas, pineapples, blueberries, easy peelers, apples, oranges, lemons, mangoes, plums, melons, watermelons, kiwis, potatoes, pears, and apricots. We are always adding new fresh produce to the Clarifruit platform. If your produce category is not included in the list above, please contact us as we may have already added it to our portfolio but have not actively marketed it.

You can download a free trial of the Clarifruit app for a limited amount of time and use it to evaluate one type of produce. With this trial, you get a base package of 50 inspections per month for one user per organization and for one predefined inspection type and rating. Then, once you’re happy with the app, we move onto a pilot process before commercial deployment. Contact us for more details about a comprehensive solution for your specific needs.

With the Clarifruit solution, you can easily say goodbye to paperwork, measurement devices, spreadsheets, and emails in 4 simple steps:

  1. DOWNLOAD the free app.
  2. POINT your smartphone camera toward a fruit or vegetable.
  3. OBTAIN the exact size, color, stem color, defects, firmness, etc.
  4. AUTO-GENERATE a full QC report, instantly.

The typical implementation process includes three steps:

  1. A free trial of the mobile app and the management dashboard that enables you to experience the power of the platform and its ease-of-use. This trial stage usually lasts for a few weeks and we recommend that it take place at least 12 weeks before the season begins.
  2. A paid pilot, in which we perform a customer-specific configuration of inspection types and quality standards before the pilot begins. We recommend piloting one produce category and this is usually limited to one or two customer sites and a few users. The pilot stage can last for a few months or even for a first season.
  3. Commercial deployment, which involves the implementation of the platform for all of your produce categories and relevant sites.

No. The Clarifruit solution is pure-play software and can be fully implemented remotely with the help of our product marketing videos and potentially some one-on-one customization sessions with our implementation team (this can be done remotely too). In fact, during these challenging times (COVID-19 and all), we’ve successfully implemented our comprehensive QC solution for multiple customers around the world - all remotely!

The Technology Behind the Clarifruit Platform

Magic! No, we’re kidding. While the Clarifruit solution is quite easy to use, it’s based on advanced and innovative computer vision, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technologies. It would be challenging to explain it all here but in a nutshell, it uses computer vision technology to capture fresh produce attributes and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technologies to collect and analyze this information on an ongoing basis and to optimize quality control processes for stakeholders across the supply chain. Learn more here.

QC solutions available in the market today are fully manual. Clarifruit developed the “five levels of QC automation” roadmap. Level 1 automation is a digitized inspection process with manual input of data. Level 2 adds the automated inspection of external attributes, performed by Clarifruit’s patented computer-vision technology. These are what Clarifruit Gen 1 currently offers. Level 3 adds the automatic identification of defects, which is Gen 2 for the Clarifruit platform. Level 4 adds the automatic identification of internal attributes to the process (e.g. through NIR or Hyperspectral technologies), and Level 5 will include the identification of pesticides.

Clarifruit performed rigorous comparison tests against measurements taken by lab equipment, which our customers usually use to evaluate fresh produce quality during their manual operations. The tests included using our app, while following our own photo-taking guidelines, to perform inspections and take photos of hundreds of different fruits.

What About Support and Data Security?

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us on our website or via email and someone will get back to you shortly.

All quality control data belongs to the customer. Clarifruit stores customer data in a multi-tenant environment on cloud providers and isolates the data on a per customer account basis. Each customer account is given control over specific data sharing policies. Only if authorized by the customers, Clarifruit may use aggregated data for computer-vision training and industry-level statistical information.
